About the project
I’ve never made a bass like this (which I honestly warned the customer about), so it was truly an experiment for me. The plan was to make an instrument with the highest quality characteristics of an electric guitar and with the acoustic parameters close to a double bass.
As the basis I used Fodera. Hence, the name of Fedor – the Russian-language version ? Since such an instrument could not be found in the sawn state, the design had to be invented independently. We decided to make a through-neck, on which the acoustic structure of the case is suspended. For the sake of persuasiveness, we chose a long scale of 35”. To beautifully evoke all this, one of the most advanced developments in bass electronics was used.
Through this, we were able to create a universal tool with a wide range of sound settings. There is both a humbucker and a single sound; two versions of piezo; independent adjustment of the top, bottom, top and bottom center; mix piezo and electromagnetic pickups, as well as active and passive modes. All this together gave a very good result. This opinion was expressed by the customer himself. And I have no reason not to trust the opinion of a professional musician, who also heads a recording studio.
